The first season of The Witcher is more than a month away from the release, and it has already seen a roller-coaster of responses. From fans being very skeptical about the casting of Henry Cavil, to the show generating immense hype after the recent trailer, where he sounded exactly like Geralt.
The reception of the trailer was overwhelmingly positive. It seems like the show itself is going to be great, since even though the show has more than a month to debut on Netflix, it has already been renewed for the second season. The announcement was made by the showrunner, Lauren Hissrich as well as Netflix.
I’m so thrilled to announce: Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri will be back for more adventures... in Season Two.
I could not be more proud of what the amazing cast and crew of The Witcher have accomplished, and can’t wait for the world to dig in and enjoy these stories with us. ❤️⚔️🐺 pic.twitter.com/evWoHvUl1e

According to Variety, the second season will have eight episodes and will go into production in early 2020. The show is expected to debut in 2021. The second season of The Witcher will be shot in London. “I’m so thrilled that before fans have even seen our first season, we are able to confirm that we’ll be returning to The Continent again to continue telling the stories of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri,” Lauren Hissrich said.
She had also earlier told SFX magazine that she had already mapped out seven seasons for the show. The Witcher being renewed for the second season even before its release is a big show of confidence by Netflix. Let’s hope when December 20th comes, we feel the same way about the show.
