Ubidesk is an online collaboration space where you can run team projects with
document collaboration and task management capabilities. Ubidesk provides an
online rich-text editor that has all the features you need to create and edit
documents including formatting, images, tables, spell-checker , etc. A tool
called ‘Contributors’ enables you to quickly spot changes made by other team
members. All you need is to create an account in Ubidesk site (URL is mentioned
inthe Direct Hit box). Once logged in, you will be taken to the dashboard. Click
on Create New Space, enter the name of the space and you’re ready with your
workspace.In the left side, you’ll find options called Docs, Tasks, Discussions,
Files, etc.

The software supports image and document formats such as JPEG, GIF, PDF, MS
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OpenOffice.

Ubidesk offers ‘Action’ button for a task. After a task is assigned, the
status of the task changes to ‘Started’ the moment the assignee clicks on
‘Start’ button. This informs the admin that the assignee has acknowledged his
responsibility for the task and is in progress. You can associate Tasks with
documents and files to show the relationships among them by clicking on ‘Link
Docs & Files’ under the tasks in Dashboard.

The rich text-editor of Ubidesk offers you several
functionalities to view, edit, email, download file as Word, PDF, HTML,
documents.

There are three project types in Ubidesk – Public, Protected, and Hidden. One
who creates a project becomes the leader by default with administrative
privilege in the project. Ubidesk offers a space calendar along with a personal
calendar, and you can see them all together. You can share your team schedule on
the space calendar and simultaneously can keep your personal schedule
confidential.

In the side bar, there is an option called Discussion. You can initiate any
number of discussions simply by clicking on it. The Ubidesk sidebar also has a
notepad for you to put down thoughts, remarks or ideas.

Ubidesk offers a space calendar & a personal calendar. You
can share your group schedule on the space calendar & can keep your personal
schedule confidential with your personal calendar.

Ubidesk also enables you to choose when and on what subject a notification
email should be generated. For this, go to ‘My Account’ and click on
‘Notification’. Simply mark or unmark the check boxes against tasks under
Documents, Discussions, Files, etc.

Ubidesk works best with Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3. However, other
browsers are also supported, but certain features of Ubidesk might not be
available. You can upgrade your plan by clicking on ‘Upgrade now’ any time. In
the paid plan, you get upto 20GB storage space. However, all plans are offered
with unlimited users and projects.
