Technology is an ever-evolving sector. Since times immemorial, there has been no single year, month, week, day or even a minute, when technology hasn’t grown. Every second, new trends and advancements are emerging in the industry. Substantial shifts in display technology have been witnessed. In 2021, the devices became smarter, smaller, and more portable. From artificial intelligence to smartphones to cars, significant changes have occurred in the way we work, play, and live.

After displays switched from cathode ray tube technology to LCD, the introduction of LCD had a significant impact on monitor ergonomics, including overall size, weight, and energy usage, among other things. For the past decade, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) has been the dominant display technology. Displays varying from hoardings to desktop computers had also constantly increased in size over the years to accommodate users' evolving habits for better viewing and gaming experiences. In addition, the continuous price reduction on monitors equipped with technologies such as 4K is empowering people to investigate the benefits of the new larger monitors.

Flexible panels, 4K and 8K display augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), and panel fabrication on mother glass were among the new advances in display technologies. The display market's hottest trends include OLED and flexible screens. The market for display devices is highly competitive. The growing adoption of LCD and 4K displays, and the market for high refresh rate monitors in the gaming market, offer lucrative opportunities in the computer market.

Mini – LED

Mini-LED is an LCD enhancement technology that is part of a broader plan by LCD producers to narrow the performance gap between LCD and OLED. Mini-LED LCDs use clusters of really microscopic LEDs (100-1,000-micron size range) in the backlight, which is located behind the LCD screen, to enable more pixel illumination control.

Micro-LED

Whereas mini-LED is merely an LCD backlight enhancement, micro-LED is a self-emitting display technology (equivalent to OLED) that utilizes LEDs as small as 50-100 microns in size, each of which becomes a unique red, green, or blue sub-pixel. In almost every performance category, micro-LED technology matches or outperforms OLED and LCD.

Micro – OLED

Another intriguing display technology that is emerging is micro-OLED. It supports extremely high resolution (more than 1,000 pixels per inch) and can be used in near-eye applications such as virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR).

Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence (AI) is among the most essential trends in technology. We are in the initial phases of artificial intelligence development. As technology advances, it will be used to further build tech-based tools, such as training machines to recognize patterns and then act on what it has discovered. By 2024, Automation language will represent more than half of all interactions between people.

Over the next decade, we see a bright future for the display sector, with spectacular new technologies on the horizon.

Trends to look forward to in 2022

As working from home, online classes, and virtual communication become the new normal, there will newer innovations in the areas of enhancing the employee experience, customer experience, collaborative communication that will change how users will interact with the technology and each other, by the introduction of better products and solutions for the Indian users.

AI and expansion of 5G will be one of the most significant technology trends that will dominate almost every industry in the country enhancing productivity and leading to business expansion

Monitors & visual solutions will continue to stay in demand, they will soon be equipped with necessary features, technology support, extend their functionalities by smooth collaboration with smartphones, voice, and audio devices.

The upcoming year will also see the evolution of the technology in the form of ‘Metaverse’ which will blur the lines between virtual and physical communication. It is a virtual world created by the integration of various technologies and is soon going to be the next big thing in the technology industry

Automation has entered our lives so quickly and most of us don’t even realize it. Robots, self-driving cars, smart home cleaning devices and solutions, and much more is going to be on the expansion spree in 2022. Various businesses are benefiting from these in terms of enhancing their productivity and customer base, as next-level automation will be commonplace in the coming year
