Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone which is reportedly being called as Redmi K20 will be launched as Poco F2 in the Indian market. Xiaomi will launch the smartphone as Redmi K20 on May 28 in markets except India.
Xiaomi has posted images for the Redmi K20 on Weibo confirming the launch date and official name of the smartphone. The company is teasing the smartphone as ‘flagship killer’ based on the high Antutu benchmark score. The Redmi K20 (in India Poco F2) will come with an AMOLED display, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The possible Poco F2 will be Xiaomi’s first Snapdragon 855 powered smartphone. The Poco F2 will come with a triple rear camera consisting of a 48MP primary sensor, 13MP ultra wide camera and 8MP telephoto camera. There will be 20MP selfie camera.
The Poco F2 is expected sport a 6.30-inch AMOLED screen, 4,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging support. The company is also adding a 3.5mm audio jack and support of NFC. The Poco F2 could come in 6GB/8GB of RAM variants with the choice of 64, 128 and 256GB internal storage options. There could be carbon fibre black, glacier blue, and flame red colour options.
As we have seen in the past Xiaomi smartphones create a lot of buzz before being officially launched in India and the possible Poco F2 is no exception. The smartphone is popular among consumers, they are just waiting to grab their hands on it.
Driven by new product launches in the first quarter of 2019, Xiaomi continues to be the market leader in India, said a report by Counterpoint Research. But with the refreshed Samsung Galaxy A and M series, Xiaomi is facing tough competition as compared to a year ago. The newly launched A and M series contributed to three-fifths of Samsung’s total smartphone shipments during the quarter.
