This internal drive is more feature-rich than the other two reviewed here. One interesting feature is DiscT@2, using which you can burn images and text on the writing surface of the CD-R. This is a great way to watermark your CDs and personalize them. But you can’t burn any data on the watermarked area and vice versa. The other feature is to enhance audio recordings.
It claims to make studio quality audio recordings. On the performance front, it supports 44x write, 24x rewrite and 44x speeds. It took 7 to 18 secs more than the other two CD-writers in all CD-R tests. This difference is hardly a cause of concern unless you’re really finicky about such minor variations in performance. In the CD-RW tests, it gave the highest data throughput, but took 71 secs longer than the Iomega to format the disc. Overall, though the drive’s performance is good, its price tag seems high.
