YES Bank - Workload Automation

The Problem: The End Of Day processing, involving multiple systems connected to different servers, was done manually. It introduced a lot of inefficiencies and was prone to human error which can be risky. Also with the growth of the bank the workload on the IT department increased.

The Solution: The challenge was to continue expanding, meet business expectations, and paradoxically continue to manage IT at a lower cost. This leads to the idea of automation. So with an expansion of the existing teams to cater to growing business requirement, also to reduce the risk and to improve efficiency, YES Bank implemented an Automation tool called Control M on multiple OS.

The Result: The project aims at building an ecosystem of applications that runs smoothly without any manual intervention. Apart from secure file transfer over the network, it includes a wide list of activities like server reboot or service restart to perform EOD. It was also integrated with an email system, which allows mails to be sent in case of failures or issues. Some of the benefits of this automation are the minimal IT cost, reduced risk, control mechanisms by alerting appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.
