This access point has a compact design and comes with dual
antenna for better coverage. Also, PoE (Power over Ethernet) is a convenient
option as there is no need for a dedicated power point. NWA1100 is based on IEEE
802.11g standard. For any wireless network, security is a big concern. To secure
your wireless connectivity, NWA1100 comes with WEP, WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protection
Access ) and AES. To check performance of this access point we again carried out
two separate tests. We started by creating an isolated G network with one
machine connected to the access point via Ethernet wire and the other machine
wirelessly. In our first test, we checked TCP throughput using 1000 KB of
payload and it came out to be 22 Mbps, which is more than the results we got
with the three routers that we reviewed in August 2009 (their tests were also
carried out in a G network). In the second test, we transferred 50 MB of
heterogeneous data from one machine to the other, the time taken for this
transfer came out to be 33 seconds, lowest when compared to those three routers.

Bottomline: A
good choice if you do not intend switching to the 802.11n standard anytime soon.
