Google has announced the timeline for a new update for Android version 7.0 Nougat which was launched to all devices at the end of August. At their Made By Google event, the tech giant teased the audience with mobile OS' 7.1 update and few features, like instant chat support and automatic data uploading to the cloud. It is expected to come out by the end of October for the Nexus 5X and 6P phones as well as Google's own Pixel C, with the remaining supporting phones added by December.

According to android developers blog it’s an incremental update based on Android 7.0 but includes new features for consumers and developers — from platform Daydream VR support and A/B system updates to app shortcuts and image keyboard support.

“Later this month we’ll be bringing you the Android 7.1 platform as an open Developer Preview, similar to what we did for Android 7.0. You’ll be able to test and build on the new platform and try the latest features,” said Dave Burke, ‎VP Engineering (Android) at Google.

The developer preview will be delivered through the Android Beta program thereby making it easy for people to participate.
