Apple is currently beta-testing the new iOS 14 update, Apple iOS 14.5 and is set to roll it out soon to the customers. This is set to be the biggest iOS 14 update and can come out with multiple new features for the consumers. The update should be available to consumers in the month of April.

Mask in No More An Unlocking Hindrance

Considered to be one of the biggest features, iOS 14.5 will allow users to unlock their phone with the help of their Apple Watch while wearing a mask. The pandemic made us realize that the Face ID does not work when half the face is covered with a mask. A solution to that is to bypass the Face ID with the Apple Watch and unlock the phone. This feature will still need to read your face or have the passcode.

App Tracking Transparency

One of the big changes in the soon-to-be-released iOS update will be the app tracking transparency. This means that Apple will allow users to provide or moderate permissions to track people all across other apps and websites. This feature is not being welcomed by corporates like Facebook. After the update being live, Facebook will require permission to have access to your Advertisement ID.

Battery Recalibration

Apple will also allow users to know about their battery life and health in the new update. This will show the maximum charge that the battery can hold and the peak performance that it can reach. This detail can be toggled by going into the battery section in settings and checking for battery health.

Siri Gets Two New Voices

As a part of the new update, Apple will allow you to pick the voice of your digital assistant. The software update will also make the digital assistant more capable of understanding the music preferences better. The feature might or might not be seen in the final iOS 14.5 update.

Support for Dual 5G, Compatibility with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S controller

The new iOS 14.5 update is finally going to come out with dual 5G compatibility where both the physical and electronic SIM will have access to 5G. This is a very helpful feature for travellers or people who are always on the go. Users can also play on their iPhones and iPads using PS5 and Xbox Series X/S controllers as Apple is adding compatibility features in the new update introducing support for a PlayStation 5 DualSense or Xbox Series X/S controller.

Emojis have become a new way of expressing emotions and feelings. Therefore, Apple is coming out with 217 new emojis as a part of their new update. These emojis might include some pandemic based emojis and some to just express the current state of mind like the one with spiralling eyes.
