Apple Scary Fast Event: New 24-inch iMac with M3 Chip Revealed

Today, Apple revealed the third generation of its internal Mac processor lineup, along with a new iMac, laptops, and an M3 chip that offers significant gains in graphics processing power and overall performance. The 24-inch iMac with the M3 CPU was revealed at Apple's Scary Fast event on Tuesday. It has the same design as the three-year-old 2021 iMac model with an M1 chip.

The redesigned iMac M3 variant has a GPU with up to 10 cores and an 8-core CPU. It is said to be more efficient and to provide up to two times the performance of the iMac with an M1 processor.

24-inch iMac M3 Specifications

Although the new 24-inch iMac with M3 chip looks similar to the old model, it offers performance improvements. With an 8-core processor and up to a 10-core GPU supporting up to 24GB of unified RAM, the M3 chip is said to be twice as fast as the M1 chip and is based on Apple's iPhone 15 Pro's A17 chip.

Apple's new M3 chip is manufactured using a 3nm process, which also makes it more efficient than its predecessor, the M1 chip. In the graphics department, the chip offers hardware-accelerated network shading that supports the iMac's ray tracing. There is also a 16-core neural engine that enables faster machine learning. 

The all-in-one 24-inch iMac M3 has a 24-inch Retina display that offers 4.5K resolution and 500 nits of peak brightness. It now has Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, up to four USB Type-C ports, two Thunderbolt ports, and Gigabit Ethernet support.

There's also a 1080p FaceTime camera and six speakers that support surround sound and Dolby Atmos. It will run the new macOS Sonoma out of the box.

24-inch iMac M3 Price and Availability in India

The new 24-inch iMac with M3 chip costs Rs. 1,34,900. This model has an 8-core processor, 8-core GPU, 8 GB of memory, 256 GB of SSD storage and two Thunderbolt ports. Apple includes the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, as well as the 24-inch iMac. It is available in green, pink, blue and silver color options.

On the other hand, the 24-inch M3 variant with 10-core GPU iMac starts at Rs. 1,54,900 or Rs. 1,44,900 for education. It has the same configuration: 8-core processor, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB SSD, two Thunderbolt ports, Gigabit Ethernet and two USB 3 ports. It comes with Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Magic Mouse. It is available in blue, green, orange, pink, purple, silver and yellow color options.

In terms of availability, the new 24-inch iMac with M3 is already available for pre-order on Apple's website. It will go on sale through the website, Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Resellers starting November 7.
