Ather Unveils Refreshed Product Portfolio: Introducing the 450S

Ather Energy, a prominent electric scooter manufacturer in India, has introduced a significant update to its product lineup based on the successful 450 platform. The new offerings include the 450S and an updated version of the 450X models. These electric scooters feature various safety and performance enhancements, including a groundbreaking DeepViewTM Display.

Key specifications and features of the Ather 450S:

• Battery Capacity: The 450S is equipped with a 2.9 kWh battery.
• Range: It offers an Intended Driving Cycle (IDC) range of 115 km.
• Acceleration: The scooter can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
• Top Speed: It has a top speed of 90 km/h.
• DeepViewTM Display: The most notable feature is the DeepViewTM Display, a 7-inch dashboard with a high contrast ratio, auto-brightness adjustment, and superior readability throughout the day. The display includes on-board navigation with 18+ directional possibilities for easy navigation.
• Switchgear: Ather has introduced new switchgear with improved tactile feel and added features like one-click reverse and a joystick. These enhancements improve the rider's interaction with the scooter.
• FallSafe™: This safety feature can detect potential falls by monitoring changes in speed, orientation, and acceleration. It can deactivate the motor and activate indicator lights to signal others to assist the rider.
• Emergency Stop Signal (ESS): When panic braking occurs at speeds over 50 km/h, the brake lights blink to alert riders behind, providing extra reaction time.
• Coasting Regen: This feature helps improve battery range by recycling energy during coasting, where no acceleration or manual braking is applied. Regenerative braking strength adjusts based on speed to ensure efficient energy recovery.
• Inbox-to-Scooter Feature: Users can send destination addresses from apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, or Instagram DM directly to the Ather scooter's dashboard. This feature requires the Ather app and a Google Maps link.
• Trip Planner: The updated trip planner offers route suggestions along with maps of Ather Grid chargers. Users can choose their preferred charging points for personalized trip planning.
• Design Changes: The scooter's rear mud flap has been redesigned to reduce splatter on the pillion rider while traveling on dusty or muddy roads. It also provides added protection for rear components.

Both the 450S and the updated 450X models offer these features. The 450X now comes with battery capacity options of 3 kWh and 4 kWh, and the range variants have been expanded to 115 km and 145 km.

Customers also have the option to choose the Pro pack, which unlocks additional features like Ride Assist, Ather battery protection, AtherStack updates, and Ather Connect (free for 3 years).

Deliveries of the new models are scheduled to begin in phases, starting with the 450X equipped with a 2.9 kWh battery in the third week of August, followed by the 450S at the end of August, and the 450X with a 3.7 kWh battery in October. This update aims to provide customers with enhanced options for electric scooters that combine performance, safety, and innovative features.
