Should you buy Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro?

Redmi K20 Pro is the first flagship smartphone from Xiaomia and the most expensive one from Xiaomi. It comes two storage variants, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB.

China’s Xiaomi today announced its flagship ‘K’ series in India that comes with the Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20 smartphones. The Redmi K20 Pro is the first flagship phone from Xiaomi and yes, we are not saying that it will compete directly with Apples and Samsungs of the world, but yes, its the most expensive from Xiaomi in India. including the Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20 Pro smartphones.

Earlier, Xiaomi only played on the affordable turf largely in the sub-Rs 15k and sub-Rs 10k range. With, the Redmi K20 Pro, Xiaomi has for the first time boosted itself in the Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 range. But, will it be able to entice users. Let’s find out.

Speaking of design, the Redmi K20 Pro comes in the ‘Aura Prime’ design. According to the Xiaomi, the ergonomics flow to the rear of the devices with 3D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5 that gives Redmi K20 Pro a stunning look. The glass at the back can reflect different patterns based on how the light falls on it giving Redmi K20 Pro a characteristic feel. The Redmi K20 phones in glacier blue, flame red, and carbon black colour variants – all of which look great.

The smartphone sports a 6.39-inch 19.5:9 full HD+ AMOLED horizon display offering a screen to body ratio of 91.9 percent, one of the largest in the industry. This big-screen ratio can be attributed to 20MP pop-up camera. And while you must have seen a pop-up camera on most of the other smartphones, what makes Redmi K20 Pro unique is the inclusion of LED that sits on the top of the pop-up camera and lights up when you opt for selfies. The pop-up mechanism is tested to work at least 300,000 times; thus you can open it for almost 100 times a day without an issue.

For mobile photography, the Redmi K20 Pro comes with an AI triple camera setup, comprising of a 48MP main camera using Sony IMX586 sensor, an 8MP telephoto and a 13MP wide-angle.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor which is also found in OnePlus 7 Pro – and it’s interesting to see that Xiaomi has managed to put such a high-power sensor in such a low price. It is available in two storage variants -- 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB. Speaking of daily performance, the Redmi K20, no doubt, will offer a fluidic experience.

And to enhance your multimedia and audio experience, the Redmi K20 Pro offers a high-res DAC that allows users to playback lossless audio (up to 24-bit, 192KHz). The smartphone is powered by a huge 4,000mAh battery, that can last with you for up to 2 days on moderate usage.

The Redmi K20 Pro is launched at Rs 27,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant and Rs 30,999 for the 8GB+256GB variant and will go on sale starting July 22, 12 p.m. onwards on Mi.com, Flipkart and Mi Homes.

So, should you go for it?

Coming with a fast processor, a great camera setup and an AMOLED display, the Redmi K20 Pro offers a lot for its price. And if you are in a market to buy a phone that can let you work fast, take great photos and should last with you longer, the Redmi K20 Pro is the one for you.
