MOBA’s have been at the top of esports industry, with League of Legends and Dota 2 pulling in ridiculous numbers and a huge following. Many new games have come and tried to be as great as them, but none have succeeded so far. But now, there might be a new competition, Pokemon Unite.
Pokemon Unite is the latest announcement by the Pokemon Company. It will be a 5v5 team based Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, much like Dota 2 and League of Legends. But unlike both the games which are only avaialble on PC, Pokemon Unite will be available on Nintendo, iOS and Android Devices. It is being developed by Tencent’s Timi Studios, the studio behind Call of Duty: Mobile.
The official Twitter account is up and they released an announcement trailer which showed a few snippets of the gameplay and also gave us the glimpse of the map. The game will have a crossplay feature and will be free-to-play. No details regarding the release window have been announced, but the trailer does say the game is still in development.
