Google India has done something interesting and that too without raising any noise. If 9to5 Google didn't exist then we might have not even known about it for a few more hours but thankfully they do exist and we do know what Google has done. For the longest time Google Opinion Rewards app had allowed people to earn credit points that were redeemable on the Playstore by doing simple tasks. These tasks in the  Google Opinion Rewards were fairly simple to do and mostly involved anserwing questions and surveys that were in the app. These surveys were highly localized and were supposed to help Google to get more localized content in an easier fashion.

It seems that Google was not happy with the progress it was making with the opinion rewards app so they have launched Google Task Mate App for users in India and Kenya. According to the report published on 9to5 Google, the Google Task Mate app is supposed to be in its early access stage and is only avilable to a very limited amount of users as of now. Technically speaking, anyone can download the app but you can only start using it if you have a referral code.

Google Task Mate App

The details of Google Task Mate app was shared by a Reddit user with the username ppatra and first reported by 9to5Google. According to the Google Play Store listing of Google Task Mate app, people can also earn money by completing tasks such as translating a script from English to their local languages. Google says that the money one earns from the completed tasks would be credited to a third-party bank account. "When you are ready to cash out, simply register your e-wallet or account with our payment partner in our app, then visit your profile page and hit the 'cash out' button," Google says.

From the images that are available on the Google Task Mate app page, users will be to earn up to $1 (approx INR 70) from a completed task. There seems to be two types of tasks in the app. One involves sitting tasks and the other involves field tasks. On the Google Task Mate app, users can also see the number of tasks they have completed, correctly done, under review, and level they have achieved. As of now, it is unclear how businesses are going to make requests to Google for crowdsourcing these tasks or whether they have to pay for them. From the data that has been provided by Task Mate users through completed tasks it seems that Google is aiming to improve its mapping services and make more local businesses visible on its platform.
