Honor Play 8T Debuts: Unveils MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC, 6,000mAh Battery - Pricing and Specs Inside

Honor Play 8T, the brand's latest affordable handset, has been released in China. The new Honor Play series smartphone improves on the Honor Play 7T by running on a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The Honor Play 8T features a dual rear camera system led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 6,000mAh battery with 35W fast charging capabilities. It comes in three colours and has a 6.8-inch LCD with a refresh rate of 90Hz.

Price and availability of the Honor Play 8T

Honor Play 8T is priced at CNY 1,099 (about Rs. 12,500) for the base 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option. The top-tier 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant costs CNY 1,299 (about Rs. 14,700). It is available in China through the Honor Mall store in Fantasy Night Black, Ink Jade Green, and Streaming Silver (translated from Chinese) colour options.

The Honor Play 8T's availability in additional markets, including India, has yet to be confirmed.

Honor Play 8T technical specifications

The dual-SIM (Nano) Honor Play 8T runs Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2 and features a 6.8-inch full-HD+ (1,080x2,412 pixel) TFT LCD with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, 850 nits of peak brightness, and a 20:09 aspect ratio. The selfie shooter is housed in a hole punch cutout in the center of the screen. The new Play series smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC, up to 12GB of RAM, and a Mali-G57 GPU. By exploiting underutilised storage, the built-in memory can be practically increased to 8GB.

The Honor Play 8T features a dual back camera arrangement with a 50-megapixel main camera sensor, an f/1.8 aperture lens, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and an f/2.4 aperture lens. The rear camera unit is capable of 1080p video recording and has a 10x digital zoom. Honor has included an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens for selfies and video chats.

The Honor Play 8T has an internal storage capacity of 256GB. The smartphone's connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 1, GPS, AGPS, OTG, Beidou, Glonass, and a USB Type-C connection. An ambient light sensor, compass, gravity sensor, and proximity light sensor are among the sensors onboard. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the side for authentication. The Honor Play 8T phone has stereo twin speakers and Hi-Res audio.

The Honor Play 8T is powered by a 6,000mAh battery that supports 35W rapid charging. It has dimensions of 166.7x76.5x8.24mm and weighs 199 grams.
