IGI 3

For many of us, the mention of Project: IGI brings back fond nostalgic memories from childhood. It might be the first game you ever played on PC or the first PC game you fell in love with. The franchise ended years ago with Project IGI 2, but now it is being brought back with IGI 3.

The game’s publishers, Toadman Interactive, are calling the game IGI 3: Origins. This will be a prequel to the first IGI and will be set in the 1980s cold war era. It is being developed by Toadman Interactive’s subsidiary, Antimatter Games who have developed critically acclaimed games like Rising Storm and the Killing Floor series.

“Here at Antimatter Games we are delighted to announce that we are well underway in production of the next chapter of the beloved franchise: IGI - I’m going in.

This new installment in the IGI universe will see a fresh new take on the classic espionage game, being developed alongside ‘83 at our studio in Falmouth, Cornwall, UK.

IGI 3 will be a prequel to Project IGI, set in the 1980’s and over twenty years in the making, this prequel will speak to the classic stealth shooter gameplay of previous IGI games, with modern quality-of-life updates and a filmic spy thriller narrative set against the neon backdrop of the Cold War era.”

The game was earlier teased in 2018 by Toadman studios. Right now there is not a lot of in-game footage available, and the release date is set for 2021. The earlier games were developed by Innerloop Studios and published by Eidos Interactive. IGI 3 was earlier being developed by Artplant, which was a subsidiary of Toadman Interactive as well before the responsibility was given to Antimatter Studios.

No further details regarding the game have been updated as of yet.
