India has made a giant leap in HealthTech during the COVID crisis. Many HealthTech solutions that saw an increased adoption during the COVID crisis, were not entirely new. For example, solutions like telemedicine, e-pharmacy, e-diagnostics, remote monitoring, etc. were already available in the market even before the COVID crisis also. The COVID crisis just bolstered the people’s belief in those solutions.

This was possible because healthcare systems across the world were pretty overloaded during the pandemic. Existing healthcare infrastructure in India is also inadequate with the availability of doctors at 0.8 per capita, and the availability of hospital beds at 1.1 per capita only.

The pharma industry has also played a vital part in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, supplying vaccines and life-saving drugs. Technology played a big role in boosting the pharma companies ability to bring the drugs quickly to the market.

Going forward, how this techceleration will shape the future of Indian HealthTech? Is our healthcare system ready to embrace these solutions? And most importantly, are patients warming up to the idea of telehealth and remote monitoring gradually?
