Customers of the recently launched Apple products seem to jump from one issue to another. Previously it was the newly launched Mac Mini with M1 processors having Bluetooth connectivity issues and now it's the iPhone 12 series. In a post that gained a lot of traction on Apple’s Communities forums, a user by the name of Master26A complained about the fast iPhone 12 Pro battery drain on standby even when their expectations were that it wouldn’t be quite as good as the iPhone 11 Pro. They brought up battery loss of about 4% (per hour) on standby shortly after getting their iPhone 12 Pro in late October.

Then a lot of users started also telling their stories of their new iPhone 12 series is also suffering from the same issues. According to 9to5 Mac, almost 1,000 users have complained that their iPhone 12 devices battery life. This is quite frankly beyond belief. The iPhone 12 series is not even six months old and users are complaining about its battery life. In most cases, when someone buys an iPhone it is assumed that this smartphone is the pinnacle of its competition.

It’s often the case when getting a new phone that it feels like the battery is draining more quickly. But that’s usually due to increased use early on, checking out new features, restoring data, checking out new apps, using the camera more, etc. That being said, the user actually took into account that iPhone 12 Pro will have a lower battery life than the iPhone 11 Pro. Even after that being accounted for there is a battery loss of about 4% (per hour) on standby on iPhone 12 Pro.

One commenter also mentioned that they spoke to Apple support. According to Apple support who ran their own diagnostics said that everything checks out. This leads us to believe that there is a software issue causing the battery to drain. The user even mentioned that "It 100% isn’t normal for all apps to be closed, background app refresh off, Bluetooth off & lose 40% charge overnight".
