This year, Apple included an older A16 chip in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models, while the top-tier iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max launched with an all-new A17 Pro CPU. According to a Mac rumours claim, early development versions of the iOS 18 operating system include references to four new iPhone models. These models, thought to be the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, are codenamed D47, D48, D93, and D94 internally.

According to the iOS 18 code, Apple will include a new SoC - t8140 - Tahiti in the iPhone 16 lineup

The A18 chip is supposed to be related to this codename. This confirms previous rumours. The non-Pro and Pro models of Apple's latest iPhone 15 and 14 series had different chipsets. In 2023 and 2022, the business employed earlier-generation SoCs in its lower-priced iPhone models. The iPhone 15 uses an older A16 Bionic chip from the iPhone 14 Pro, while the iPhone 15 Pro models use a new A17 Pro chip with an additional GPU core and faster clock speed.

Apple is supposed to distinguish the semiconductors used in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models

According to the claim, it will be different if all four iPhone 16 models employ an A18 chip in 2024. Apple is supposed to distinguish the semiconductors used in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models by calling them A18 and A18 Pro. Aside from the A18 chip, the operating system uses Broadcom Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips.

The speculated iPhone 16 series is expected to include a dedicated video button. This enigmatic button is likely to be called the "Capture Button." The new Action Button, now unique to the iPhone 15 Pro models, would be available on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models. The iPhone 15 Pro versions are believed to have larger displays than the Pro variants.
