Lord of the Rings has been one of the most revered franchises in pop and geek culture. It was the first high fantasy novel which later on went to spawn a much acclaimed movie series and video games. To this day, we can see many authors take inspiration from LOTR (including George R. R. Martin) and a lot of RPGs as well.
Now Amazon is reviving J. R. R. Tolkein’s universe with a new series that will be based on the books and there is also a new Lord of the Rings mobile game coming up which is being developed by Amazon and the Chinese company, NetEase.
The game will be called Lord of the Rings: Rise to War and will be set in the Third Age of Middle Earth. The Third Age is the exact same period when the books are based, so we can expect some familiar characters in the game.

Despite being based on the highly regarded series, many fans aren’t happy about it. Concerns of the game being a micro transaction based money grab fest have not been suppressed by the fans on Twitter. As of now, we have very little information on the game, except for the poster which shows the siege of Minas Tirith.
