Microsoft Office 2016 Preview now Available for Download

Microsoft has made preview version for Office 2016 available for download. The new public preview is available to both Office 365 subscribers and also, non-subscribers and both, home users and enterprise users.

Office 2016, the next major update to Microsoft’s office suite of apps, will now include real-time editing for Word documents just like Google docs. Microsoft and Google both support co-authoring or editing on the web, this feature extends the same collaboration to the desktop apps in Office 2016.

The new co-authoring is a huge change to Microsoft’s Office desktop suite, since thousands of businesses still rely on Microsoft Office and the desktop versions of the apps, as the web alternatives just aren't as powerful. Co-authoring on the desktop version will eliminate the need of the web versions of Google Docs or Office.

Another new feature called Clutter will prioritize your emails and will display important messages first. The remaining messages are stocked in a folder, with the same name, Clutter.

The free public preview of Office 2016 is download for download starting today, but the real-time editing feature isn’t available just yet. Office 2016 will be available in its final form later this year, and real-time editing is expected to enter preview by early summer.
