Mindtree donates $2mn to enhance academics in AI

Mindtree has donated $2 million to Stanford University to enhance academic focus on AI.

The Global technology services and digital transformation company believes that the donation would aid the School of Engineering of Stanford University to set-up in perpetuity an endowed Faculty Scholar position. With a faculty whose educational focus is Artificial Intelligence, according to IANS report.

IANS quoted Rostow Ravanan, CEO and Managing Director of Mindtree saying "Deploying AI-based technologies is now mission-critical for any business that wants to run its operations more efficiently, better understand and predict customer behaviour, and bring customised products and services to market faster”.

Ravanan further added that they are proud to assist Stanford School of Engineering to speed up the growth of AI to solve complex issues faced by organizations and society.

Stanford University has appointed Professor Silvio Savarese as the first Mindtree Faculty Scholar. Professor Savarese’ research focus consists of computer vision, robotic perception and machine learning.
