DICE and EA have had trying a couple of years, to say the least. Battlefield V tanked and everyone knows what a disaster Star Wars: Battlefront II was. So much so that governments actually started discussing the legality of lootboxes in video games after the whole Battlefront II controversy. A few days ago DICE had announced that they would be seizing development for both, Battlefield V and Battlefront II, which means no more updates. But they haven’t completely given up on their bestselling FPS franchise.
In a statement to IGN, an EA spokesperson confirmed that we will in fact be seeing a new Battlefield game in 2021: “Longer term, the studio is focused on the future of Battlefield that we’ll be bringing to players in 2021."
EA also said that the reason they have planned for a 2021 release is also that by then, the next gen consoles would have a larger install base as compared to 2021. "Bringing out Battlefield
Looks like, after the failure of their last two games, EA and DICE do not want to take any chances.
