OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R: Global Launch Date Revealed for 23 January 2024

OnePlus has announced the official global launch date for the OnePlus 12 series. The OnePlus 12, released in China on 5 December, will be available worldwide, including in India, on 23 January 2024. At a OnePlus launch event, the flagship handset will be unveiled alongside the OnePlus 12R. Earlier this month, a corporate executive disclosed the devices' global debut date of 23 January.

OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R: Release

The Chinese maker announced the latest devices will be launched globally at a One Plus launch event slated for 23 January, 7.30 pm IST, in a teaser video shared on X late Friday. The pricing for the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R in India is also expected to be revealed at the event. The OnePlus 12 series launch microsite has also gone up on the company's website. By subscribing to the event, interested users can also enter to win a free OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R.

The site also provides crucial specifications for the OnePlus 12, but information on the OnePlus 12R still needs to be provided. According to previous rumours, the smartphone would most likely be a rebranded OnePlus Ace 3 — expected to arrive in China soon — in worldwide markets.

OnePlus Benelux Country Manager Alexander Vanderhaeghe indicated earlier this month at the company's Never Settle community event in Antwerp that the OnePlus 12 would be released in Europe and worldwide markets on 23 January. The phone will be released with the OnePlus 12R, the successor to the OnePlus 11R. The OnePlus 12R is rumoured to be aimed at gamers and priced lower than OnePlus' flagship phone.

OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R: Specifications

On 5 December, the OnePlus 12 was released in China, with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, a 5,400mAh battery, and 100W wired SuperVOOC charging capabilities. The Snapdragon processor is paired with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage via UFS 4. The OnePlus 11 successor has a 6.82-inch quad-HD+ (1,440 x 3,168 pixel) LTPO OLED screen with a refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The phone includes Hasselblad cameras, a 50-megapixel primary lens with a Sony LYT-808 sensor and optical image stabilisation (OIS). In addition, the phone has a 64-megapixel telephoto camera and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The OnePlus 12 has a 32-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.

In China, the OnePlus 12 is priced at CNY 4,299 (about Rs. 50,700) for the base 12GB+256GB RAM and storage configuration. The 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB variants cost CNY 4,799 (about Rs. 56,600) and CNY 5,299 (approximately Rs. 62,500), respectively. Meanwhile, the top-tier model with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage costs CNY 5,799 (about Rs. 68,400).
