OnePlus 9 Pro Leaks: A Revolution or Just a Mirage?

by February 8, 2021 0 comments

OnePlus is a brand that has gone from being the flagship killer to being a flagship brand in the current scenario and this does not seem to change. Leaks of the supposed OnePlus 9 Pro have been hovering the internet. Dave Lee(Dave2D), a famous Youtuber recently posted a video about some leaks that he received on his discord server and made consumers all around the world think, is this the next big thing in the smartphone world or is it just a too good to be true mirage.

From the initial leaks, it can be determined that the OnePlus 9 Pro will be coming with a quad-camera setup. The phone has a curved screen which makes it distinctly unique from the other leaks that have been doing rounds of the internet. Previous leaks showed the phone to have a flat-screen unlike the previous generation OnePlus 8 Pro that has a curved screen. The back of the phone is glossy now, changing the design from the matte finish that was seen on the OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8 Pro.

A slight design change can also be noticed on the side where the power button and the notification slider. Normally, OnePlus has this sleek and uniform frame on all the phones but in these leaks, the frame is cut around these buttons. This might be the result of the frame being even thinner than before or the size of the buttons have been increased a tad bit for user’s comfort.

The display in the leaked photos shows that the resolution of the screen might be 1440p running at a 120Hz refresh rate. There is no confirmation on the hardware front but going by OnePlus’s pattern, this might be coming with the latest Snapdragon 888 with 11 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. This might seem like an odd combination and might even trigger some people’s OCD but this is what has come out as of now.

The camera module houses a quad-camera setup consisting of a regular lens, a wide-angle, ultra-wide and a zoom lens. Last year’s OnePlus had a 3x Zoom camera that wasn’t really solving any purposes, so this time around they might have increased it to 3.3x. There is also a tilt-shift photography mode in the camera app. However, the most interesting thing is the branding of Hasselblad on the camera module. If you are unfamiliar with this name, Hasselblad is a Sweden-based company famous for its expensive and good quality cameras.

This brand does not do smartphone camera partnerships and this can be a new camera experience for the users. Hasselblad’s cameras are expensive and for OnePlus to have come up with a partnership with this brand could not have come for cheap. The camera performance is something that users need to really look out for if the original phone comes with this branding because then it might mean a revolution in the way the smartphone cameras have been working all this time.
