Over the past six years, players from this region spent $1.86bn on in-app purchases, up from $1.84bn in the Asia- Pacific market. Since its release, players from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa have spent $792 million on the game.

Total Number of Downloads Close to 600 Million

The Statista and App Magic data also showed that since its release in 2016, Pokémon Go had been downloaded 590 million times worldwide. More than half of that was recorded in the game's first year.

In 2020 only, when millions of people turned to mobile games amid the COVID-19 lockdown, the game was downloaded more than 60 million times, 4 million more than last year. Statistics show the number of downloads in the eight months of 2022 hit around 23 million worldwide.

The surging user base has helped Pokémon GO to remain one of the highest-grossing mobile games worldwide. The location-based megahit ranked as the seventh highest-grossing mobile game in 2022, behind Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile, Genshin Impact, Candy Crush Saga, Roblox, and Coin Master.
