The report comes from noted esports journalist Rod ‘Slasher’ Breslau, which has been submitted to ESPN.  Breslau reports that he received a document which includes information about Overwatch 2.

Firstly, there will be a PvE story mode. This will be a four person co-op mode. One of the missions will be set in Rio de Janerio. The story mode will also have hero talents and in game items.

Breslau also says that much of the focus will be on narrative and story elements and claims that the game will also have a new mode. This will be the first new mode since 2015, and will be called “Push.” It will be set in a new map based on Toronto.

Overwatch 2 will also see variations to existing modes like Assault, according to Breslau. He says that efforts are being made to improve that game mode “including implementing 2/2/2 role lock and role queue into the game.”

Slasher also reported on twitter that Blizzard will reveal the 32nd Overwatch hero, Echo at BlizzCon. Echo made her first appearance at BlizzCon last year. It is believed that she will be playable after the announcement at this year’s BlizzCon.

Overwatch 2 is one among multiple games rumoured to be revealed at BlizzCon. There are also credible rumours on the internet regarding Diablo IV said to be announced at the event, along with a new World of Warcraft expansion.

BlizzCon comes at a tumultuous time for Blizzard. Many of the companies’ fans are already calling to disrupt the event after the company’s controversial decision regarding banning of a Hearthstone player from Hong Kong and his stance on Hong Kong protests.
