PCQ User’s Choice Awards 2021: Sony the clear winner

Sony is the champion brand in the Wireless headset category, because of its good product quality and brand name.

Audio accessories market in India is growing rapidly, all thanks to rising smartphone penetration. And since mobile phone manufacturers discontinued practise of providing the earphones as part of bundled offering, this raises the demand for audio accessories.

The Global Wireless Earphones Market size is expected to reach $2.9 billion by 2026. Sony is leading the market followed by JBL and boAt. Incorporated in 2013, the Indian brand, boAt gains popularity with its economical products.

In our Affinity index, Sony scored 99, JBL – 82 and boAt – 72, followed by Bose – 52 and Xiaomi – 51.

Whereas, in our Spontaneous Awareness, Sony sustained its first spot with 81 per cent score, while JBL and boAt exchanged their places with 50 and 63 per cent scores respectively. Xiaomi scored 36 and Bose achieved 34 per cent.

When asked for their current headset, the results were similar with one new entry in the top five, leaving Bose at fifth place. Sony is being used by maximum respondents – 28 per cent, followed by JBL – 21, boAt – 13, Xiaomi – 8 and Samsung – 5 per cent.

For the future consideration again Sony is the leader with a maximum vote share of 47 per cent. JBL scored 38 per cent followed by boAt – 29, Bose – 18, and Philips scored – 13 per cent.

When asked about satisfaction, Sony and JBL shared the top spot with a score of 98. boAt is the next with a slight difference – 94. Once again Samsung made its place in the top five with a score of 87. Xiaomi is the next with a score of 86.

Though, Sony’s most of the users are satisfied with the brand, but that didn’t turn them to consider the brand for their next purchase. However, the difference is not huge, but JBL stole the winner spot with the highest score – 90. Sony got 88, followed by boAt – 84, Samsung and Bose – 82.

Interestingly, when we asked for recommendations, Sony made its comeback with the highest score of 60. JBL got 54, followed by boAt – 41, Bose – 40, and Samsung – 38.
