“We see big opportunities in deep learning and communication. We feel that a lot of companies need expertise in this area. Even Google is buying companies for computer vision. We can help companies put machine vision in their app because we understand how to implement the technology,” Prisma CEO and co-founder Alexey Moiseenkov said in a statement to The Verge.

The website provides API’s and SDK’s to developers to incorporate its deep learning models in its app. The company also plans to offer machine vision tools like segmentation, face mapping, object recognition, among others to developers.

The company, however,  will not stop support for the Prisma app. Moiseenkov assures that “The Prisma app which currently sees 5 million and 10 million active monthly users will continue.”

There have been rumors that the company could soon be snapped up by a bigger company. Companies like Facebook have been implementing various image filtering tools in their in-app cameras, leading many to believe that eventually Prisma would also be bought, much like the acquisition of face swapping app MSQRD.

When asked if the company is also going the same way, co-founder Aram Airapetyan replied over an email to The Verge: “We want to go on doing what we do and what we can do best. The whole team is super motivated and passionately committed to what we do! So the rest doesn’t matter (where, when, with whom).”
