Capcom has had quite a run for the past few years. Monster Hunter and Resident Evil 2 Remake have done quite well, not to mention Devil May Cry 5. Their latest offering, Resident Evil 3 Remake, did have a few shortcomings and wasn’t as well received by critics as RE2 remake, but it did well nonetheless. Given the resurgence of the franchise, it would make sense that they would be working on a new RE game, and rumours have started surfacing of Resident Evil 8.
The rumour first came to light by a known Capcom leaker Dusk Golem. His information about RE 2 Remake has come to be true, but I would still take this rumour about Resident Evil 8 with a grain of salt. He mentions that the game will be played in first person, which would be a first for the Resident Evil series. He also mentioned that it existed as Revelations 3 for the duration of the project.
Okay, so the little game is done. This will be breaking this month with more details later not by myself, but I've needed to clear some stuff up. "Resident Evil 2021" is Resident Evil 8, but it wasn't always RE8. During most of its development it existed as Revelations 3.

He went into more details on his thread, In one of the tweets, he said, “The game has been going through some huge changes to make it more like a "mainline" title, big changes to the story, characters, etc. So specifically what you've heard may not be fully true in the final, but a number of elements remain. So as I've said, it's a cross-gen game.”
He also went on to say that purists might not necessarily like the game because Resident Evil 8 will take a huge departure in narrative and enemies. It will apparently deal with themes of occult and hallucinations.
These claims were corroborated by VGC, courtesy to their verified Capcom insider. They said the Resident Evil 8 will be coming to current and next-gen consoles next year.
