HP expanded its portfolio of LaserJet multifunction printers (MFPs) by introducing the new Flow 630 series. HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M630 series comes with enhanced manageability and security features to better manage and protect the print environment of medium enterprises and large enterprises. The series comes in three models - HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M630h, HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M630f and HP LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M630z, which are priced at Rs. 2,34,345, Rs. 2,93,250, Rs. 3,35,818 respectively. They also allow for quick and easy mobile printing. We take a look at Flow M630z.

Design and Features

The MFP 630z has the size of a small refrigerator measuring 35.9*25.3*43.7 inches which includes wheels. It has a massive paper handling capability that includes a 500 sheet standard input tray, 2*500 sheet and a 1500 sheet paper feeder with stand. It also comes with 900 sheet 3-bin stapling mail box accessory on the left. It can print up to 60 ppm and has a Duty Cycle of 250000 pages. This makes it a worthy MFP for medium to high volume workloads.

It uses HP ProRes1200 printing technology which employs 1200 dpi in both the vertical and horizontal axis. ProRes 1200 uses four times as many dots as dpi. This means that the printer may require more memory to print a job. The print files generated by ProRes 1200 are usually larger, as much as two to four times larger than 600 dpi or FastRes 1200. ProRes 1200 provides highest quality text and image quality for those who require the highest resolution.

The MFP sports an 8 inch intuitive touch screen control panel with a pull out keyboard that eliminates the need for a confusing array of buttons thereby making it convenient for you to access and perform various functions in standalone mode. It comes with a proximity badge reader, where you need to authenticate with your ID to start using the MFP. This secures print jobs and prevents access to unauthorised users thus reducing costs. The MFP also has built-in NFC support which provides secure mobile printing without impacting the company network.

Super performance coupled with excellent print quality

The MFP may look complex on first looks, but setting up this giant is fairly easy. It printed 54 A4 Black and White pages in a minute with the first page coming out in 8 seconds. The MFP also incorporates a Quiet Mode which when activated, reduces sound levels during printing but also reduces the print speed to 27 ppm. The document quality is excellent and text looked sharp. It copied 52 pages in a minute with the first page again out in 8 seconds.

While scanning to a network folder it took 10 seconds to scan an A4 B/W full text page. In case of paper jam, the printing stops and page recovery steps are shown on the touch screen. The MFP can also store various destination addresses over an enterprise network where you can send a scanned document securely. Thus you do not need to manually enter the address every time you need to send a scan. You can also encrypt your documents with a password before saving them on a USB.
