Portable and convertibles are becoming popular nowadays, and the leading smartphone player also stepped in this category with two new devices Laptab LT777 and Lapbook L1161. Where Laptab is a convertible, the lapbook is a notebook. This is a lightweight and portable device that can be easily carried anywhere. Indian mobile manufacturer Micromax tried to bring as many possible features they can in the small body.
Screen and Build quality: The 11.6-inch (1366x768p) screen produces good colors and brightness. Though the screen is not top-notch quality yet offers decent viewing experience. The outer and inner shells are made of a durable plastic that has brushed metallic finish on the top. The 11.6-inch device looks good with the simple notebook design. With the portable form factor, it is quite compact and lightweight. Its keyboard offers decent typing experience and the touchpad is also good in terms of responsiveness.
Micromax Lapbook is coupled with 1.8 GHz Intel Atom Quad Core processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM and 32GB eMMC Flash Memory (19 GB available after Win10 installation). This runs on latest Windows 10 OS. Again as like Asus EeeBook and Canvas Laptap, you will miss the internal storage capacity. But thankfully you can upgrade it up to 64GB using micro SD and portable HDD Support via USB port. It comes with VGA camera at the front which is good for video calls and chats, but don't expect much.
Performance : During our testing, it was able to deliver good performance while running common apps like MS-office, Mozilla, chrome, etc. But as it is an affordable notebook, we can't expect high performance, so while running multiple applications and switching between them, we were able to notice a little lag in the performance, otherwise, it performed well.
It is backed by a 5000 mAh battery that provides enough juice to run longer than 8 hours with moderate usage, while surfing the internet and working on MS-office, etc. In out BatteryMark bench, it resulted with 6 hours and 66 minutes of battery backup, which is quite good delivery from a budget notebook.
