Performance
The hard drive produced good numbers in our tests. The test bed comprised of Intel i5-3450 CPU clocked at 3.5 Ghz,Gigabyte GA-H61M-S1 motherboard, 8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD (source drive), Windows 7 64-bit. In CrystalDisk Mark benchmark, it delivered sequential read speed of 35.25 MB/sec and sequential write speed of 29.85 MB/sec. In HD Tune Pro benchmark, it delivered max speed of 33.2 MB/sec, min speed of 31.2 MB/sec and CPU access time of 17.5ms. In drag and drop test, the hard drive took 32 seconds to transfer 3.3 GB assorted files from source drive to HDD, delivering speed of 102 MB/sec, which is much higher as compared to Seagate Backup Plus, which completed the transfer in 6 minutes delivering 8MB/sec speed.
The HDD offers 465GB of free space, thus, per GB cost comes out to be Rs.18.27 which is relatively higher as compared to Seagate Backup plus, which is at Rs.6/GB. The Firewire ports are used for daisy chaining. By this, you can hook two or more external HDD together via a series of firewire cables, running from each HDD to the next, with only one HDD being plugged into the computer.
