Similar yet different
TCL 560 doesn’t look out of the world. It has brush metal finish at the rear which we have seen in numerous smartphones, yet it feels good in hands. The good part is that back doesn’t capture smudges and scratches. The front panel has backlit navigation keys on the bottom of the screen offering decent experience.
Regular stuffs with decent experience
TCL 560 has 5.5-inch FHD display is laminated against smudges and scratches. It produces good colours, but you may struggle using it in direct sunlight.
For security, it comes with iris scanner, TCL calls it EyeVerify. It can store your retina to unlock the device. It works fine, though tuning is required to speed up its performance, as some times it takes much longer time to recognise you. It works perfectly in bright light conditions. For low light conditions, you need to use backup.
TCL added a clean UI, which looks quite clean and near to stock Android, so experience is also similar. The rear 8 MP camera is good for capturing decent images in both low and bright light conditions. It has HDR mode, which lets you capture images with in-depth details. Overall camera experience was decent. However, the lens performance was a bit slow. Front 5 MP camera is also decent for selfies and groufies.
TCL 560 comes at the affordable price category and it doesn’t have out of the box features. However, you won’t be disappointed with its performance. While using the device for more than 3 weeks, we didn’t notice any performance lag. We installed few games and various apps to test its real life performance. We played games like Asphalt 8 and Mortal combat X. There was no performance lag even while playing games or switching between apps.
Battery life of the smartphone is also not bad, as it can stay with you for more than 10 hours with moderate usage. In our video loop test, it lasted for 3 hours 46 minutes playing video over YouTube with full brightness and volume.
