The XG2431 has a five-button OSD control that has nine picture modes, with the Standard preset being the best choice. Color Adjust includes all image controls, with five color temp presets and RGB sliders. The monitor does not have gamma presets, which would be useful. The Setup menu includes HDR and Adaptive-Sync controls, as well as PureXP for blur reduction. The Manual Image Adjust menu has Sharpness, blue light filter, Black Stabilization, Advanced DCR, and overdrive settings.

Performance

The XG2431 monitor is versatile and suitable for both work and entertainment, with good color saturation, fine detail, and no pixelation or jagged lines at FHD resolution. While black levels aren't particularly deep, contrast is good for enjoyable viewing and working in Photoshop. HDR works well for gaming, with the dynamic contrast feature working brilliantly, and color being rich. The PureXP blur reduction is effective, and with over 200fps, Adaptive-Sync isn't necessary.

The ViewSonic XG2431 monitor provides decent pixel density, a bright picture, superb HDR, Adaptive-Sync, and a truly usable 240 Hz refresh rate. The PureXP feature can further enhance clarity if you're willing to forgo Adaptive Sync and HDR. The XG2431 is clearly targeted towards competitive gamers who want every possible advantage.

While the monitor has relatively low contrast and a lack of gamma options, its HDR performance more than compensates for these shortcomings. With an effective dynamic contrast feature, it delivers a healthy 5,133:1 with saturated colors and lots of dimensions. It is best used with HDR content and is one of the best budget HDR screens available.

Moreover, the XG2431 boasts impressive color accuracy, with a spot-on gamut and grayscale that can be used without adjustment. While extended color would be cool, the monitor provides accurate and complete coverage of sRGB, making it suitable for both gaming and critical tasks. You can even get some work done when you're not gaming in the jungle or exploring distant alien worlds.

The ViewSonic XG2431 boasts of two high-performance three-watt speakers that deliver impressive audio quality with exceptional clarity and precision. Whether you're listening to music, watching a movie, or playing games, the speakers can play cleanly and effectively across a wide range of volumes. However, if you're looking for deep, bass-heavy sounds, the XG2431 may not deliver to your expectations.
