Challenges Faced by SMEs

“The SME segment is growing rapidly and is fast adopting technology, as businesses realize that technology not only cuts cost but is an integral part of operations,” said Vishal Rally, Head-SME Operations, Mumbai, Tata Teleservices Limited. Technology enables them to reach their customers faster, service them better and to manage the organization more efficiently by connecting offices, partners, and the larger ecosystem for closer collaboration and proactive servicing. There is huge potential for future growth in the SME space, as only a fraction of SMEs have adopted technology.

Some of the major challenges faced by SMEs are lack of technology know-how, funds, cost, return on investments, cluttered product portfolios, marketing and branding, etc. Addressing these challenges will be critical to growth and development of SMEs. While most SMEs are keen on adopting technology, a lack of awareness and poor infrastructure holds them back. It is the implementation of technology which is a major challenge for these businesses. They are unsure of which technology model to choose, since they have varied requirements in terms of scalability, flexibility, and costs.

Benefits of MDM Solution for SMEs

Launched in September 2016, MDM solution offered by TDBS for SMEs and enterprises allows businesses to holistically manage their mobile devices including - inventory, security, policies and analytics. The product addresses concerns that CIOs across the country have voiced with regard to data security over mobile devices, workforce productivity and most importantly, BYOD. It is a telecom service provider agnostic solution and can be deployed quickly, in hassle-free simple steps.

The MDM service ensures secure access to official data and emails over mobile devices, easy data recovery in case of theft/ lost device scenarios, management of tablets and smart phone devices across multiple Operating Systems (OS). “Unlike similar applications, customers do not need to incur CAPEX, since this service is available on monthly rental model.  Once devices are on-boarded, the remote MDM administrator can view diagnostics and remotely manage and monitor the mobile ecosystem through a Central Management Console,” said Rally.
