Sony Hikes PlayStation Plus Annual Plan Prices: All You Need to Know

Sony, a Japanese video game corporation, has announced an increase in the cost of the annual memberships for all PlayStation Plus levels worldwide. Existing members will be subject to the revised fee anytime their plan renews on or after November 6. However, new users and those who are switching current contracts must begin paying the higher fee right once.

Sony's Comments on Hiked Prices

The price increase is expected to take place globally, although some regions will still see the older price. Sony also confirmed that prices for one- and three-month subscriptions will remain unchanged. The new prices will be valid from September 6. "This price change allows us to continue to offer high-quality games and added value to your PlayStation Plus subscription service," Sony said.

The PlayStation Plus service is available at three different levels. An annual subscription to the basic PlayStation Plus Essential platform, which was earlier priced at $60 (roughly Rs. 5,000), now costs $80 (roughly Rs. 6,600).

At this level, users can enjoy two free monthly game downloads as long as their membership is active. This plan also gives customers access to online multiplayer games, cloud saves and discounts on game purchases.

The PlayStation Plus Extra level, which had a price of $100 (almost 8,300 rubles), now costs $135 (almost 11,100 rubles). At this level, users get everything available on the PlayStation Plus Essential level, plus access to a catalog of hundreds of PS4 and PS5 games. Finally, an annual subscription to the PlayStation Plus Premium tier, which was priced at $120 (nearly Rs. 10,000), now costs $160 (nearly Rs. 13,200).

This tier allows users to access even more titles than what is available in the premium tier. The Premium tier includes PS3, PS2, PS One and PSP games that can be played via the cloud. 

PlayStation Plus monthly games for September

The Monthly Games product range includes - Saints Row, Black Desert - Traveler Edition and Generation Zero. These games will be available to PlayStation Plus members from September 5th to October 2nd.
