Stadia Pro will be free for two months for everyone upon registration. For those who have already bought the subscription, Google won’t charge for the next two months. Anyone with a Google account can access it for the duration and upon sign up, will have access to 9 games for free instantly. Google also announced that any game that you would buy on Stadia, you will get to keep for lifetime irrespective of whether you still have the Stadia Pro or Stadia subscription.

Phil Harrison, Vice President and GM, Google Stadia said in a blog post, “We’re facing some of the most challenging times in recent memory. Keeping social distance is vital, but staying home for long periods can be difficult and feel isolating. Video games can be a valuable way to socialize with friends and family when you’re stuck at home, so we’re giving gamers in 14 countries free access to Stadia Pro for two months.”

Google also announced that to preserve bandwidth due to high demand in these times, they will be setting 1080p as the default resolution instead of 4K.

Before today, Stadia was only available with a $129 Premier Version that came with a Stadia controller. There was no basic version, but it seems that it might change soon with this move.

Stadia doesn’t really have the best reputation when it comes to performance. It has some image and framerate issues as well as a noticeable input lag. But hey, you are getting it for free and if you have a low end PC, this might just be the thing you need.
