Teamfight Tactics

Auto Battler is the latest genre of video games to hit the markets right now. Auto Chess started the craze and just recently even Riot Games jumped in with their own version of an Auto Battler based on League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics.

Teamfight Tactics is perhaps the most popular Auto Battler out there (I guess being based on the most played esports game of the planet helps). In September 2019, Riot Games reported the player count hit 33 million for the previous month. Seeing the game’s popularity, Riot announced that it would build a competitive scene around the game and will be doubling down on Teamfight Tactics. It looks like they are staying true to their word since they have announced the game will be coming to mobile this year in March.

In a developer’s blog on League of Legends’ official YouTube channelTeamfight Tactics producer Dax "Lunchboy" Andrus, and game design lead, Stephen "Mortdog" Mortimer announced their upcoming plans for the game. The announcement of the game coming to mobile was one of them. Regarding this, Lunchboy said, “We have been working on how to being TFT from PC to mobile, in a way that feels intentionally built for the platform.”

They also talked about more content coming to the game, specifically a new, third Set. They said that it is a “pretty large project” and dropped various hints int video regarding the theme of the set.

There will also be changes coming to gameplay as well. Mortdog said that some of the more “extreme” random mechanics will be removed from the game. They also removed “some of the more frustrating disables”, like hextech and demons. The game will also do away with hard counters and instead, will bring in soft counters.

If all goes well, they say, the new updates will be released in March.
