With the evolvement of Android OS, Google has continuously worked towards making the user interface simpler and distraction-free. But, one app namely Google Maps has evolved in such a way that it pushes out several notifications that can make both your day today commute easier or frustrating.

Overall, the Google Maps – being of the most popular navigation app has a lot of notification options and they’re all turned on by default. Now, if you look at the list of notifications options – some are crucial that lets you know your metro rides, commute time before you leave for work. But many of them are annoying that just pop up in your notification tray and can distract you from other important notifications.

The Maps app allows you to turn off notifications one by one. But in Android 9 Pie, Google is giving a faster way to turn off those unwanted notifications.

For phones running on Android with Google Maps installed

Open Google Maps and then click on the menu button located in the top left corner of your screen.

Select ‘Settings’. After this, find and tap on ‘Notifications.’

Here in the list, you will be able to see all of the notifications categories. If you don’t like one, you can open it to deactivate that.

For phones running on Android 9

Long-press on the Google Maps app icon.

Tap the “i” (information) button which will take you directly to the ‘App info’ page.

Tap ‘Notifications.'

Here you will see that all the notifications are divided into separate categories. You can browse through these categories and turn off any unwanted notifications.
