After providing a little sneak peek at Twitter for Mac in June, the micro-blogging website has announced to bring back Twitter on Mac with the same features, look and feel as Twitter for iOS.

The new Twitter for Mac is available to use on Mac OS 10.15 Catalina – but now comes with a few added features designed specifically just for Mac. These new features include multitasking with multiple windows wherein you now no longer need to pause anything while you browse and Tweet. You can look at multiple memes and photos all at once, and compose Tweets in as many windows as you need.

From Dark Mode to multi-account, you are now able to access all of your favorite features from Twitter for iOS in Twitter for Mac. Further, if you quickly want to include a funny photo or a link to a story you can’t stop reading in your Tweet, it’s now easier than before. You can drag and drop 4k images (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC, and WebP), text and links directly into your Tweet composer.

In May, Twitter in a new update rolled out the ability to add a photo, video or GIF to a Retweet. The new update is available globally on iOS, Android and on the mobile website. While the update looks minor, however, the addition of multimedia features has significantly impacted the amount of media that’s shared on the platform.

The addition of more formats while Retweeting has made Twitter move away from its original goal of offering a public SMS-type platform. The company earlier added live streaming video from users, live video from media partners and audio broadcasting, and also doubled the character limit to 280.

In January, Twitter rolled out the reverse-chronological timeline for Android smartphone users allowing them to switch to the timeline as per their choice.
