Users can now use Siri to play songs on Spotify

Streaming service Spotify has finally rolled out a new feature for iOS users that allows Apple’s voice assistant Siri to play songs or stream audio content on Spotify. The new update is included in the latest iOS 13.1 updates. So, if you want to use this feature, do update your device to this version.

While the Siri support is available on iPhones, however, the functionality is now yet available in the Apple Watch. The voice assistant’s integration is also working the Apple AirPods, wherein simply say 'Hey Siri' and ask it play songs or request albums, playlists on Spotify's service. According to the media reports, the new feature will also be rolled out to the main app as well in the future.

Spotify was launched in India in February and comes with features that are tailored to Indian music fans’ personal tastes. With the India launch, the music streaming app aims to offer an enhanced listening experience in local and international music—and the freedom to play it across a wide range of devices and app integrations.

The Indian Spotify app supports multi-language music recommendations which means that the app’s recommendation engine can now be tuned to Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. Thus, consumers in India can select their preferred language(s) to receive tailored Daily Mix, Home, Radio, and Search results and recommendations. If you are a Spotify Free user, you can play every song on demand. Spotify’s recommendations will also include songs from India’s favorite movies and actors.

The new playlists are carefully curated and regularly updated by the company’s team of Indian music experts, including Indian, Rap 91, Namaste Love, Punjabi101, and Bollywood Butter, as well as Top Hits in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Punjabi. Spotify now has over 200 million users, including more than 87 million subscribers.

While the app is available for free for a period of 30-days, the Spotify Premium India subscription price is Rs 119 per month and Rs 1,189 per year.

The streaming service also offers top-up packs such as Rs 13 for one day and can cost as much as Rs 719 for six months. The company has also announced a student discount and its price is Rs 59 per month (monthly subscription) or Rs 66 for a one-month top-up.
