After shaking the smartphone industry by bringing the world’s first pop-up camera in Nex and then introducing the in-display fingerprint sensor at a relatively affordable price, Vivo, the Chinese smartphone maker now wants to try its hands on a punch hole camera design – to be introduced in Vivo Z5x smartphone.

The Vivo Z5x will succeed Z3x which was launched last month in China. The Vivo Z5x smartphone will be powered by a huge 5,000mAh battery and will integrate a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera in the display, with thin bezels all-round.

The Vivo Z5x is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor and will run on Android 9 Pie with Funtouch 9 on top. There are no other details of the smartphone known.

While there is official statement as to when the Vivo Z5x will be launched in India, and if the company decides to bring it to India, it will be called by a different name.

According to a report by Counterpoint Research, Vivo’s volume grew 119 per cent year-on-year in India in the first quarter of 2019. Vivo drove its growth thanks to the aggressive IPL campaign around flagship V series and the expanded portfolio in the mid-tier (₹7,000 – ₹14,000 or roughly US$100-US$180).

Recently, Vivo expanding its V series of smartphone range by announcing the V15 Pro 8GB and V15 aqua blue. The V15 Pro was launched earlier in 6GB variant and is now available in 8GB RAM coupled with 128GB ROM and the younger sibling.

Both the phones sport a powerful triple rear camera setup, ultra FullView display and will run on Android Funtouch OS 9.0 out of the box. There is also a 32MP pop-up front camera.

The new V15 Pro 8GB and V15 Aqua Blue will be available at Rs 29,990 and Rs 21,990, respectively.
