Vivo Z5x to reportedly launch soon

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo will reportedly launch its online-only Z-series smartphone soon in India. The smartphone is reported to be called Vivo Z5x and will go head to head with Xiaomi’s smartphones.

According to a report in 91mobiles, the Vivo Z5x phone will be sold exclusively through the online sales channels. The smartphone is expected to launch under Rs 20,000 and will be available in two RAM configurations 4GB and 6GB. The smartphone is already launched in China.

Speaking about the specifications, the Vivo Z5X, will be Vivo’s first phone with a punch hole display offering a 6.53-inch full-HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device comes with a 10nm fabrication process-based Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor. In China, it is available in 4GB RAM + 64GB, 6GB RAM + 64GB, 6GB RAM + 128GB, and 8GB RAM + 128GB. The smartphone runs on Funtouch OS 9 based on Android 9 Pie, and has the brand’s JoviAI assistant.

Additional features on the smartphone include AI beauty, AR shoot, 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB OTG, and A-GPS. The Vivo X5x is fuelled by a 5,000mAh battery with support for dual-engine 18W fast charging.

According to a report by Counterpoint Research, Vivo’s volume grew 119 per cent year-on-year in India in the first quarter of 2019. Vivo drove its growth thanks to the aggressive IPL campaign around flagship V series and the expanded portfolio in the mid-tier (₹7,000 – ₹14,000 or roughly US$100-US$180).

Recently, Vivo expanded its V series of smartphone range by announcing the V15 Pro 8GB and V15 aqua blue. The V15 Pro was launched earlier in 6GB variant and is now available in 8GB RAM coupled with 128GB ROM and the younger sibling.
