When the COVID-19 pandemic shook the world, most people started using Zoom and Google Meets to keep the work going. Apps like Skype, Messenger, and many others started to miss out as people started using Zoom calls for office, schools, and everything in between. Now it seems that Whatsapp has realized that users today want the functionality of video calls and voice calls on their laptops and desktops. In the leaks by WABetaInfo, it was seen that Whatsapp web is getting Video calling and voice calling in the WhatsApp Web 2.2043.7 update.

Whatsapp Web and Desktop Video and Voice Calling Update:
From the leaks that were published by WABetaInfo, we gather that Whatsapp web is going to get video and voice calling options for both contacts and groups. The post also stated that Whatsapp will be rolling out the calling feature in the next few weeks in the Beta stage. They also featured screenshots as to what the calling feature will look like in the Whatsapp web next update.

The video and voice calling feature will come on the WhatsApp Web 2.2043.7 update. This update has already been rolled out and users can get the latest Whatsapp desktop client from the Whatsapp website or from the Microsoft Store on Windows. Whatsapp for desktop did allow users to make video calls but that only via Facebook Messenger Rooms. Now with the WhatsApp Web 2.2043.7 update users don't need any other app or platform to make video and voice calls.

One important thing to note here is that this feature is still very much in the Beta stage so there will be users who won't see the calling option even if they do update their existing WhatsApp client. What we do know is that Whatsapp is working on the calling feature and soon video calling and voice calling on desktops will become the norm. It remains to be seen as to how many users can be on the call together at a time.
