Recently The Witcher 3 celebrated its 5 year anniversary. To celebrate, Gwent was released on Steam, and The Witcher 3 was released on Epic Games store. And the game was being offered on a massive discount. But even years after the release of the first game, the popularity of The Witcher series only continues to grow.
In an announcement on Twitter, CD Projekt RED thanked their customers for reaching the 50 million milestone. The series contains 3 games: The Witcher, The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings and The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. Out of all the games, The Witcher 3 alone has sold about 28 million copies.
Over 50 million adventurers joined Geralt on his journey from Kaer Morhen to Vizima, through Flotsam and Vergen, Velen and Novigrad to Skellige Isles and Toussaint, and many, many more places, time and time again…

As Daniel Ahmed notes, before the announcement of The Witcher 3 in 2013, the series had sold 5 million copies. Last year, Cd Projekt RED had announced that The Witcher Series had sold 40 million copies in total. Which means that within a span of a year, 10 million more copies were sold. Of course, the Netflix series and Henry Cavill in a bathtub had a lot to do with it.
