Just a few weeks after announcing the Mi Band 4, a new media report has claimed that the Mi Band 5 will come with Near Field Communication (NFC) and microphone support. The Mi Band 5 succeeds the Mi Band 4; however, the NFC feature is limited to the Chinese market and it’s not yet clear whether the company will launch Band 5 with NFC in India or in other markets.

With the NFC, users will be able to make payments seamlessly and also use it as a work pass. The Mi Band 5 is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2020 and will come with more advanced and durable features as compared to the Mi Band 4.

Xiaomi announced the Mi Band 4 at the Smarter Living 2020 in India at Rs 2,299. The Band 4 comes with a 0.95-inch AMOLED touchscreen color display with a resolution of 240x120 pixels. The smart band comes with six workout modes including walking, treadmill, exercise, outdoor running, cycling, and pool swimming and supports sleep and heart rate monitoring.

The watch is water-resistant up to 5ATM. The Mi Smart Band 4 allows users to view fitness stats, messages, and notifications at a glance with a splash of color. There is a new 6-axis sensor that now supports more accurate activity tracking and also introduces a new swim-track mode. The Mi Band 4 supports offline payments via AliPay, and also uses artificial intelligence. Users can activate XiaoAi AI assistant for voice control of other connected smart home devices.

The Mi Band 4 also has an improved heart rate monitoring system. The Mi Band 4 has the same waterproof design as seen in the Mi Band 3 along with the identical band design with tracker module combo and a touchscreen to navigate data screens.

The Mi Band 4 has a 135mAh battery as compared to the 110mAh on the Mi Band 3.
