Xiaomi Qin 1s feature phone: All you need to know

The Qin 1s is powered by the Spreadtrum SC9820 chipset with two Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.2 GHz and has 256MB of RAM.

Xiaomi that already excels in manufacturing affordable phones has recently announced a feature phone series called Qin. The device is reportedly a crowdfunded phone, but is designed by Xiaomi, and comes with AI capabilities and 4G radio. Sharing the name with popular Chinese dynasty, the Qin sounds more like ‘chin’ in English. The two phones in the series – Qin 1s and Qin 1s 4G – are identical in looks.

Both the devices come with 2.8-inch screen offering a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The Qin 1s 4G and Qin 1S come with a keypad packed in a 132 x 53.8 x 8.5 mm body. There is a dual slot for micro SIM card too.

The Qin 1 is powered by the MediaTek MT6260A chipset having with one ARM7 CPU core, 8MB RAM and 16 MB of storage. There is no GPS or LTE, but the device comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 capabilities. The feature phone runs on Nucleus operating system and is fuelled by a 1,480mAh battery that can last up to 15 days.

Both the phones come with a USB-C charger and a speaker grille on the bottom. After reading through the above specs, you must be thinking – ‘What about the cameras?’. The Qin phones do not come with cameras on the back or the front. The audio jack is also absent so you can’t listen to tunes while commuting.

In China, the phones available in black or white, costs CNY199 (approx. Rs 2,000), and the shipping will begin on September 15.

In India, the Qin 1s will reportedly launch on June 18.
