Recently launched Redmi Note 7 series once again proved its worth to consumers by selling over 2 million units in India. And to further take the 7 series up a notch, the company has decided to launch Redmi Note 7S in India on May 20.

The announcement was made by Xiaomi’s Global Vice President Manu Kumar Jain who tweeted ‘an all-new SUPER Redmi Note for all our India Mi fans is coming’. According to Jain, Redmi Note 7S will come with 48MP rear camera as seen in the Redmi Note 7 Pro (review).

Jain’s tweet was supported by a shot of earth that seems to have been taken from a high altitude. Earlier, the company has shared similar pictures taken by Redmi Note 7 to show the durability of device in extreme conditions.

While no other details were announced, we believe that being a part for the Redmi 7 series, the phone will have an identical design to Redmi Note 7 Pro – glass back at front and rear and gradient colour finishes. There could also be a dual rear camera setup and a waterdrop notch at the front. Like the Redmi Note 7 Pro, you’re not going to actually save 48MP images to your gallery. Instead, Redmi Note 7S will shot in 12MP by default and through its pixel binning method will combine four pixels into one larger 1.6µm pixel. According to Xiaomi, the process results in more light to enter the sensor and images comes with less noise.

Xiaomi is also said to be working on a foldable phone dubbed as Mi Fold. The company has teased a video of its upcoming foldable smartphone prototype. The Mi Fold was first seen in January, packing a double-folding design.

The video shows a person using the Mi Fold in portrait mode, first in an unfolded state and then changes the orientation of the phone and lastly folds it from both sides.
