Xiaomi Redmi Y3 slated to launch on April 24

Xiaomi Redmi Y3 will be launched in in India on April 24, the Chinese smartphone maker has announced. Xiaomi upcoming Y-series has been in the news for some time now. The Redmi Y3 will be an affordable phone that can click great selfie pictures. The Redmi Y3 is expected to sport a 32MP front camera.

The company has announced the April 24 launch on Twitter and has also sent out media invites that reads ‘#32MPSuperSelfie’ which states that new Y-series will be camera focuses series. The smartphone is also expected to sport a Redmi Note 7 style notch and will include AI features.

The Redmi Y3 will have Samsung’s 32MP ISOCELL Bright GD1 image sensor at its core. The 32MP ISOCELL sensor was first announced in October of last year and is capable enough to process good images. There will also be a large battery fuelling the phone and rumours suggest it will be a 4,000 mAh battery.

The Redmi Y3 will be successor to Redmi Y2 launched last year. The Redmi Y2 features a 5.99-inch full-screen display with 1440x720p resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The Y2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor paired with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage that can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.

The Redmi Y2 in 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant is available for Rs 8,999. The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model costs Rs 10,999.

While the price of Redmi Y3 will be revealed on April 24, however, the lower RAM variant is expected to be priced under Rs 10,000.

Xiaomi recently teased a video of its upcoming foldable smartphone prototype. Xiaomi Mi Fold foldable smartphone was first seen in January, packing a double-folding design. When folded, the device is a huge display smartphone with a 6.6-inch screen, and when opened, it turns into a slim tablet with an 8-inch screen.
